Because this is not going to be a super-spendy holiday season, I'm trying to get a jump on handmade Christmas gifts.
This year, I've gotten a little better with hand crafts and needlework, so I decided to branch out from my comfort zone (software). My niece, Maggie, wears a clip-on bow in her hair almost every day. She takes great pleasure in selecting the daily bow. So, I thought, what could be more fun that coming up with a basket of hair ornaments? Before I knew it, I had produced these:

As previously mentioned, Maggie is crazy for critters. The barrettes in question are a pair of zebra ears that I made by stitching a piece of pink felt with a piece of zebra-printed felt, then folding (and stitching) the corners until they made points. Then I stitched them onto a pair of clips. Total project time: 30 minutes. Amount of fun I will have when she wears them: Endless.
But that's Christmas! Months away! What about now, the crunch of Halloween season? Don't worry; I've got you covered. Or, more accurately, some clever writers and bloggers do.
